PROJECT HISTORY
I met Amy Ford at a gentlemen's club in the Midwest. There was something undeniably charismatic about the adult entertainer who lit me up on a number of levels during her scintillating stage shows and private dances. A remarkable communicator, it wasn't long before extended talks with Amy revealed a remarkable personal story. A gifted verbal storyteller, Amy recorded an audio diary for an entire year as an exotic dancer. I took those recordings, transcribed them, and shaped the manuscript for her memoir, Shave Slowly.
PROJECT
In the Lovely Beast series of novels, my Taylor Thorn character’s traits were influenced by my years as an adult entertainer. They also lay deep within the dark shadows of my upbringing when I learned how to not only survive, but thrive in the demanding and competitive world we all live in. In Shave Slowly, I am the main character, so settle back as I give you a rare uncensored glimpse into the mysterious world that I came to dominate as a successful stripper in the Midwest. It took some time, but I began to understand that it wasn’t really about the sex. Yes, bills changed hands, skin was displayed and touched, but the actual commodity valued and exchanged at the rate of hundreds of dollars per hour, may surprise you. Yes, other strippers can read this memoir and learn how to keep their tip purses full, but anyone involved in any relationship can benefit from learning the secret to making it a win-win for both parties. It’s all about the human heart. All you need is love.

PROJECT HISTORY
The fictional character, Taylor Thorn, in Lovely Beast, was inspired by the real life exploits of exotic entertainer, Amy Ford. Having met Amy in 2005, frequent visits to the club where she danced gave us ample time to rough out story scenes for the novel we began writing together, Lovely Beast. It was the second time I found myself hopelessly inspired by someone to record something of their essence in print for all posterity. Lovely Beast was written first, followed by Shave Slowly.
PROJECT
Taylor Thorn survived the kind of childhood trauma that would have left most disturbed, medicated, and possibly institutionalized for life. Instead of breaking down under the regular assaults of abandonment and other forms of psychological and sexual abuse, Taylor spawned alters able to not only survive, but thrive when confronted with dangerous and demanding circumstances.
Lovely Beast is based on a fictional extension of the very real possibility of having our core personality severed into alters bred for survival. In our story, the main character was not always able to reign in one powerfully dominant and dangerous alter, who, when presented with certain triggers was willing and able to confront and eliminate any pretense of peril. Although Lovely Beast is a work of fiction, the potential for such a character to exist in our world is well within the realm of possibility.
